Crafting sustainable, bespoke joinery to meet rigorous ESG requirements
Crafting sustainable, bespoke joinery to meet rigorous ESG requirements
In early 2024, the trading company, Sumitomo Corporation, opted to transform their London offices to create a welcoming workspace with a focus on sustainability. Through our collaboration with DMG Workplace, our world-class talent and exceptional service made us the perfect partner to bring Sumitomo’s sustainable vision to life.
We worked together with their sustainability consultant from the very beginning in March 2024 to move the project forward. Our dedicated team involved in this project went above and beyond to source materials that were both compliant and in line with the customer’s vision. Our extensive sampling process was key to selecting the right products and finishes, offering up to 80 different options.
During the design phase, we shared our expertise through several meetings with different stakeholders, such as the design team, the contractor and SKA advisors, to ensure that materials and the project processes were up to the SKA Gold Standard. The end result? We succeeded in meeting both the customer’s joinery vision and feel as well as ESG requirements.
In Ross Parker’s own words, Director of Denne Joinery: “We combine exceptional craftsmanship with a strong commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Our exceptional work for Sumitomo is a great example of this approach. Sustainability is our standard.”
For the full fit-out of their existing offices, our time-served specialists crafted sustainable, bespoke joinery for their whole team to move back into a welcoming workspace. The purpose-built joinery elements included tea points, banquette seating, several bars, AV wall panelling and seating pods with upholstery. The installation of our high-quality joinery was carried out within six weeks, handing over at the end of October.
For the canopies, we used Corian, HIMACS and fluted Perspex along with our standard laminate and painted finishes. Our exceptional craftsmen did a particularly outstanding job when creating the fluted panels on the tea point island and the refreshment bar. We also added a manifestation to the painted doors with glass to enhance the elements within the refreshed environment.
Consistent with The Denne Way, our design team produced all working drawings and joinery samples for the customer to sign off. Once on-site, we held weekly meetings with all subcontractors to ensure everyone was working in the correct sequence, coordinating all trades so the installation of the bespoke joinery was smooth. Sumitomo’s manager was always kept up to date on the project progress and provided approval as the works moved forward.
We support businesses to create the highest level of quality craftsmanship. Sumitomo is a good example of how we help our partners meet their ESG requirements, moving towards a more sustainable approach to custom joinery.
