What does it mean to be a B Corp™ Certified company?
Certified B Corporations™, or B Corps™, are businesses independently assessed against standards covering social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
The assessment considers the business as a whole, looking beyond policies and intentions to examine how decisions affect people, communities and the environment.
It considers areas including governance, employees, climate action, human rights, environmental stewardship, circularity and the wider role a business plays within society.
Importantly, B Corp Certification is based on accountability and continuous improvement. It provides a framework for measuring performance, identifying where progress can be made and raising ambitions over time.

Making considered material choices
Materials sit at the heart of our craft, making responsible specification and sourcing particularly important to us.
Our joinery operation uses FSC-certified timber, while our finishing processes prioritise indoor air quality through measures such as the use of water-based lacquer wherever feasible. But responsible material selection goes further than choosing products carrying particular certifications.
We increasingly consider provenance, durability, maintainability, expected lifespan, embodied impact and the opportunities for materials to be reused, repurposed or responsibly managed at the end of their useful life.
For our clients, this helps us balance environmental objectives with the realities of performance, aesthetics, programme and budget, creating joinery intended to deliver lasting value.

Bespoke manufacturing gives us an opportunity to think carefully about how materials are specified, ordered, cut and used. Accurate design, detailed production information and efficient workshop processes can help reduce unnecessary material consumption before waste is created.
Where surplus material does arise, we look for opportunities to reuse or repurpose it wherever practical, before considering appropriate recycling routes.
Our objective is straightforward: use resources intelligently, minimise avoidable waste and continually improve our understanding of where materials go throughout our manufacturing process.
